Privacy Statement
We keep your private information private
We do everything we can to keep your private data truly private. When you order something from us, you don’t want to snoop with your personal data. You’re right.
We do ask for information from you so that we can help you as best we can. You can read below what information we ask for and what we use it for. You’ll also see what your rights are, who has access to your data, and how long we keep your data.
This privacy policy was last amended on July 12, 2020.
Want to know more?
Do you want to know more, for example where your data is stored or who has access to your data? That’s possible. Read more here..

What are the ‘legal grounds’ for using your data?
According to privacy laws, we must say what ‘legal grounds’ we have to use your data. We need information about you because of the contractual arrangements between you and NOI, such as your purchase of a product or your right to warranty. This is the case with:
- Order & pre-order
- Delivery
- Return & Repair
- Contact our customer service
In addition, we may use your data in ‘legitimate interest’. This means that we want to provide all our customers with the most optimal, personal service. We always think about your privacy. This applies to:
- Reviews & customer satisfaction survey
- Contact our customer service
- Visit the NOI-website
- Account
- Newsletter & email
- Actions
- Social media
We may also have a legal obligation to use your data, for example if we suspect fraud. And sometimes you’ve given us permission to use your data, such as when you sign up for the newsletter. We’ll keep this up.
Who has access to your data?
We will only pass on your data to other parties if it is really necessary for our services. These parties: delivery partners or suppliers, product support, payment partners, trade information agencies, IT service providers and parties that collect our reviews. Our delivery partner must finally deliver your order to the right address. And don’t accidentally stand on the doorstep of the neighbors. Parties such as data management platforms, media and advertising agencies and research agencies come into view as soon as we want to give you personal advice or show targeted ads, for example based on your interest in certain products. In suspicious situations, we are required to share customer data with government agencies.
The parties who gain access to your data may only use it to provide you with a service on behalf of NOI. Unless they are responsible for obtaining and protecting your data. Some cookie developers have access to the data cookies collect on our website. You can read more about this in our cookie statement and the privacy policy of these parties. We never sell your data to third parties.
Where is your data stored?
We store your data in different databases. We always have strict security measures in place. Home sweat home: that’s why your data is almost always stored within the European Union. In the exceptional event that customer data is passed on to countries outside the European Union, we ensure that your privacy is protected in an appropriate manner. Some U.S. parties have registered under the Privacy Shield, which provides adequate protection. Or we work with official model contracts that are specially designed to ensure your privacy.
How long do we keep your data?
We do not store or use your data for longer than necessary. Then we delete all the data we have from you. Or do we use your data anonymously, because we need certain data for internal analyses and reports such as the value of your order.
Sounds simple, but how does that work in practice? We’ll keep certain time limits, after which we’ll delete your data. Here they are:
- By default, we remove recorded phone calls after 30 days unless we have a legal obligation to keep a call for longer.
- We remove inactive customer accounts after 7 years. After that period, we will only use your data anonymously, for internal reporting.
- From the Tax Office we have to keep our records with your invoice, payment and order details for 7 years. After that, we only use anonymous data for internal reporting. You also need to keep the invoices of your purchases well, for example when your warranty expires.
- If you have your product repaired or replaced by NOI, we will keep your notification and contact details for 7 years. After that, we only use your data anonymously, for internal reporting.
- If you have subscribed to the newsletter or consented to receiving personalized messages, we will retain that permission for 5 years. The e-mails you receive from us are not stored for more than 60 days. So you don’t have to worry about getting the same mail from us more often. After that period, we will only use your data anonymously, for internal reporting.
- Data we use to prevent fraud is retained for a long time.
What are your rights?
Of course, you remain in charge of your data. Do you want to get free access to your personal data and receive a copy? Or do you want to change, delete, restrict usage, or customize your email wishes? No problem. You can do this yourself in your NOI-account. Or you’ll let us know by mail or email. In this way, you can also object to the use of your data for marketing purposes, the outcome of the credit check if you rent something from us or indicate that you feel that your privacy outweighs our interest. In that case, we will review the situation. Do you want your data transferred by us to another party? That’s also possible. Send your request by post or email and we’ll fix it.
Unsubscribing to the newsletter is so squeaky. You can do this in your NOI-account or via the link at the bottom of the newsletter itself. And you don’t want cookies anymore? You can take care of that yourself. Read how to do this in our cookie statement.
We want to make sure you’re really you. Therefore, we may request additional information from you to establish your identity. We do the same in the case of unclear requests.
